Lina Dhingra

CEO

Lina Dhingra has a distinguished background in the Arts, Entertainment, Legal, Film, and Finance sectors with extensive consulting experience with filmmakers globally. She led the Oscar publicity & promo campaign for THE SQUARE film with other partners, which was nominated for an OSCAR in the Documentary category, she launched the ground-breaking documentary, MEET THE PATELS out of Hot Docs and Michael Moore’s festival in Tribeca, won Grolsch Audience Choice Award (TIFF) for ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES, spearheaded the red carpet stunt at Cannes for film THE BLACK PRINCE, Kiefer and Donald Sutherland’s feature debut, FORSAKEN THE FILM and Richie Mehta’s feature debut, award winning film AMAL at TIFF.

Lina has a deep passion for independent projects and documentaries that tell stories of impact. She has been mentored by 6 time Oscar Winner, Geralyn Dreyfous and Dan Cogen of IMPACT Partners of the USA. Her second mentor is Toronto-based Award Winning Producer Don Carmody Films who produced CHICAGO, GOOD WILL HUNTING, THE HEIST, PORKY’S AND EMMY WINNING THE LATE SHIFT.

Lina is a regular HOST and EXPERT with many different media outlets like CNN, Variety, BT, CTV, CBC, OMNI, Washington Post, LA TIMES as she speaks on diversity and women within the film industry. Lina is a huge advocate to promote women within the media sector ranging in film, tv, design and art. Lina is making her directorial debut, 48 Heures and Fraudsters.

Lina’s philanthropy work spans for work for his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as she has currently taken on building his school for female buddhist monks in training in Zanskar Valley, Ladakh India, The DorjayZong All Girls School.

As she is a Buddhist she received the calling in 2023 to meet his Holiness to continue his mission and expand the school. Lina has built a music school in honour of her late Mother and Singer Kamlesh Kumari Dhingra who died tragically in June 2006. This school resides outside of Mumbai in Aurangabhad under the Nabhaghan Foundation. Lina has also built the “Hope House”, a ground-breaking documentary that won 2 Academy Awards in 2004 and the social impact campaign, strategized by Lina has raised over $1M USD thru fundraisers and equity partners, to help build two schools in Calcutta, India. Each school accepts 100 girls every year to teach them nursing to help prevent the young females off the streets of the ‘red light district’ as they are often forced into prostitution at a very early age. For the Mothers of these girls, Lina has provided housekeeping services for them to maintain so it breaks the cycle of dependency to be forced into manual street soliciting to garner funds. She is an advocate of women and young girls and her mission is to continue this work.

Lina is the Founder of karmaPRO Entertainment Group, a boutique film production, events and publicity firm based out of Toronto with affiliate offices in the Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, London, Marrakech, France, Jamaica, New Delhi & Mumbai.

Lina’s other companies are karmaLUXE Developments Inc. which focuses on high end residential builds, treehouses in Panama and container outfits on the beach. She’s also founded karmaLUXE Picnics & Domes which are luxury outdoor picnic events with domes, culminated out of Covid so people can continue to celebrate in the comfort of their own backyards or by the Lake in a public park. Let’s get that party started, as she says. Lina has recently created a not-for-profit organization, KarmaLinaCares, raising funds for young-women’s educations in India.

With a background in Law and Business, Lina is a straight forward global thinker and well respected in the industry for her ability to bring various talents together on a project. Her practice is simple, where energy goes, energy flows. Her work is seen in Cannes, Berlin, Venice, TIFF, IFFI Goa, Hot Docs, Tribeca and Michael Moore’s festival and reaches the Oscars.

She speaks 4 languages.

Independent producing credits include BLACK ANGEL, THE BLACK PRINCE, MUMBAI’S KING, RIDDLE OF THE BLACK CAT and Star Wars Documentary in honour of the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars for Lucasfilms Ltd. She is a Co-Producer for GALAXY BUILT ON HOPE. In development is SHEROS, the Series with Netflix shot out of Colombia, India and Africa. Artist SHAKIRA has agreed to partner with her on this project as Executive Producer. and THE SHERNI (The Lion) her feature debut, based on her true life story on love, loss and mental health. Currently, Lina is in Jamaica in production for film, STINKY MANGO, a metaphor for individuals not being able to face their real deeper emotions and masking them.
