Robert A. Maylor
Producer, Lawyer, and Founder — Mental Telepathy Pictures
Robert A. Maylor is a Jamaican-American producer and lawyer working at the
intersection of Caribbean storytelling and the international screen marketplace. Through Mental Telepathy Pictures, he develops, produces, and positions distinctive stories from the Caribbean and its diaspora for global audiences.
Maylor produced Storm Saulter’s SPRINTER, executive produced by Jada Pinkett
Smith and Will Smith. The film swept the American Black Film Festival, winning Best
Feature, Best Director, and the Audience Award, then went on to win more than a dozen festival prizes and secure distribution across North America, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
Alongside his independent work, Maylor serves as Head of Business Affairs & Producer at CINECOM, Jamaica’s leading production services company. His credits include Paramount’s BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE, Hulu’s BLACK CAKE, and HBO’s GET
MILLIE BLACK.
With The Richard Show, where he serves as writer, director, and executive producer,
Maylor negotiated the first creator-led series distribution deal with a professional sports league, partnering directly with the NBA and establishing a new model for independent content collaboration within institutional platforms.
In 2020, Maylor co-founded COSIGN STUDIOS with producer Leah Natasha Thomas, a not for profit initiative dedicated to supporting filmmakers in building sustainable careers while creating meaningful work centered on marginalized communities. COSIGN has received grant support from Cinereach (2022) and the NBA Foundation (2026), reflecting institutional recognition of the organization’s mission and its growing impact across the independent film landscape.
Maylor began his career working with the late attorney Johnnie Cochran before holding positions at UTA, Mark Burnett Productions, and Magnolia Pictures, where he was Director of International. He is a two-time TorinoFilmLab alumnus (Green Lab, Next Feature Lab), a Film Independent Producing Lab Fellow, a member of the California Bar, and a graduate of Princeton University, William & Mary Law School, and USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program
